New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday said the government is fully prepared to address pollution levels in the city after the Centre granted approval for cloud seeding operations. The initiative, aimed at inducing artificial rainfall, is expected to provide temporary relief from the worsening air quality during the peak pollution season.
Gupta stated that all necessary logistical and technical arrangements have been made in coordination with experts and agencies involved. “The government has completed its preparations to implement cloud seeding in affected areas as soon as conditions are suitable,” she said, adding that the measure is one among several steps being taken to reduce the capital’s pollution burden.
Officials explained that cloud seeding will be carried out once favourable meteorological conditions are confirmed. The process involves dispersing substances such as silver iodide or salt particles into clouds to trigger rainfall, which can help in settling particulate matter suspended in the air.
