Delhi: Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi, VK Saxena, on Tuesday announced the destruction of approximately 10,600 kilograms of drugs as part of an ongoing anti-drug campaign. This marks the fourth such operation within the last two years, highlighting the city’s intensified efforts to combat the drug menace.

Addressing the media, Saxena expressed optimism about the progress being made. "Today also we have destroyed drugs weighing around 10,600 kg. This is the fourth time in two years that such an operation has been conducted. At the pace we are working, I am confident that Delhi will achieve the goal of becoming drug-free within three years," he said.

However, the LG underscored that the fight against drugs cannot solely rely on law enforcement agencies. "This is not just the job of the Police but also of the public. Each and every individual should join us in this campaign," Saxena urged, calling for greater community participation.

The campaign to make Delhi drug-free involves a multi-pronged approach, including stricter enforcement by the police, awareness drives, and community engagement. LG Saxena's remarks come at a time when drug abuse remains a pressing concern in urban areas, with its impact being felt across all sections of society.
