Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday outlined an ambitious roadmap for the Defence Accounts Department (DAD), stressing its potential role as a Centre of Excellence in defence, finance, and economics.

Speaking at the recent Controllers’ Conference, Singh said that at his suggestion, the Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA) had released two market intelligence reports assessing the economic impact of defence expenditure through procurement on the Government e-Marketplace (GEM).

“This is a good start. I believe that after full implementation, this economic analysis will be even more comprehensive and conducted in real time through an automated system,” the Defence Minister said.

He also released a vision document at the event, setting the objective of positioning the DAD as a leader in financial management and economic analysis within the defence sector. Singh urged the CGDA to prepare a complete action plan for effective implementation of the vision document.

“The Defence Accounts Department plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency and efficiency. I would like the CGDA to develop a complete action plan so that this vision document can be truly implemented,” he added.
