New Delhi, May 31 — Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh on Saturday highlighted the transformation of the Indian Navy from a regional sentinel to a strategic force with a growing global footprint. Speaking about India’s maritime capabilities, Singh said the Navy not only safeguards the Indian Ocean but also signals India’s ascent as a major power on the world stage.

“The Indian Navy today is not just the sentinel of the Indian Ocean but has become a strategic force which strengthens India’s presence in the Indo-Ocean region and warns the enemy that India is no longer just a regional power but is moving towards becoming a global power,” the Defence Minister said in a tweet.

Singh’s statement underscores the Navy’s expanding role in regional security, power projection, and safeguarding India’s maritime interests amid evolving geopolitical challenges. The Navy’s capabilities, including indigenous platforms like the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, and advanced missile, drone, and electronic warfare systems, have enhanced its operational readiness.
