Leh: Authorities on Tuesday announced a four-hour relaxation of curfew in Leh, days after violent clashes in the region left four people dead and several others injured. The restrictions had been imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) following the unrest.

According to officials, the curfew relaxation is aimed at allowing residents to purchase essential items and resume limited daily activities. Security personnel, however, remain deployed in large numbers across sensitive areas to prevent any further escalation.

The violence erupted earlier this week during protests that spiraled out of control, resulting in fatalities and dozens of injuries. Protesters also targeted and set ablaze the local office of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), heightening tensions in the area.
