New Delhi | In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Crime Branch has seized a massive haul of fake medicines, including 9,000 bottles of counterfeit cough syrup branded as Curex T and Kojex, along with 1.8 lakh tablets suspected to be anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills. The total seizure is estimated to be worth ₹1 crore. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the operation.

Providing details, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch), Sanjay Bhatia, said the fake cough syrups and tablets were being manufactured without any proper licenses. "The names and packaging of the seized cough syrups were deliberately designed to match that of original brands. These substances are often misused by youth as intoxicants due to their sedative properties," Bhatia explained.

During the interrogation, it was revealed that the accused intended to sell the fake medicines, including anti-depressants and anti-anxiety pills, in the market. Authorities are now investigating the retail distribution channels used by the accused. "We are probing whether the sale was through direct points of contact or via chemists," Bhatia added.

The Crime Branch has also uncovered several names linked to the supply chain of these counterfeit medicines. Authorities believe the racket spans multiple locations and involves a network of individuals engaged in the illegal manufacturing and distribution of these products.
