New Delhi: The Congress on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Centre over the massive disruptions faced by IndiGo passengers across the country, accusing the Modi government of mismanaging the aviation sector and disregarding passenger welfare. The party said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised “ease of air travel” but instead delivered a “cease of air travel” moment for thousands stranded due to flight cancellations and delays.

The remark came amid mounting public frustration after operational breakdowns led to widespread chaos at airports, leaving travellers complaining of poor communication, extended waiting hours and last-minute cancellations. The Congress questioned why the government had failed to anticipate or prevent what it described as an “unprecedented crisis” in India’s aviation ecosystem.

The party also directed pointed criticism at Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu, asking whether he would take responsibility for the cascading failures. “Who is accountable when a sector as critical as aviation collapses overnight?” the party asked, alleging a lack of preparedness and oversight.
