New Delhi | Congress MP Jairam Ramesh announced that the party's 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhaan' campaign, launched in Belagavi, has been temporarily halted to observe a seven-day mourning period for former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The campaign is set to resume on January 3, 2025, with rallies and significant events planned nationwide.
Speaking to reporters, Ramesh outlined the party's plans to commemorate key historical figures and uphold constitutional values. "After the 3rd, we will hold rallies for the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhaan' campaign. On January 26, there will be a big rally at the birthplace of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar," he said.
The Congress party also announced a year-long initiative, the 'Samvidhaan Bachao Rashtriya Padyatra,' beginning January 25, 2025. This nationwide march will aim to raise awareness about the need to protect the Constitution and the values it represents.
Ramesh emphasized the party’s sole demand—an apology and resignation from the Home Minister. While he did not elaborate on the specific issue prompting this demand, he underscored the party's commitment to holding the government accountable.
The mourning period for Dr. Manmohan Singh reflects the Congress party’s reverence for the late leader, and the forthcoming events highlight their efforts to champion constitutional values and social justice. The planned padyatra and rallies are expected to draw significant participation as the Congress mobilizes support across the nation.
