New Delhi, Aug 11 — Congress MP KC Venugopal has urged aviation authorities to conduct an inquiry into an incident involving Air India flight AI2455, which was operating from Thiruvananthapuram to Delhi on Sunday. The aircraft made a precautionary diversion to Chennai due to what was described as a suspected technical issue.

According to Venugopal, who was a passenger on the flight, the pilot announced that another aircraft was present on the runway as the plane was preparing to land. “There should be an inquiry into the issue. An unfortunate incident happened yesterday. It was announced by the pilot that there was another aircraft on the runway when we were going to land. I spoke to DGCA as well. Let them have an inquiry,” he told reporters.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been informed of the matter. Venugopal also alleged that Air India’s official communication did not reflect the details conveyed to passengers on board, stating, “Air India is lying.”
