New Delhi, May 31 — Congress on Saturday stepped up its criticism of the government over recent security lapses and the handling of the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack, with party leader Pawan Khera raising a series of pointed questions. Speaking in Delhi, Khera demanded transparency on several fronts — including the arrests in the Pahalgam massacre, details of Pulwama’s RDX procurement, and the conditions surrounding the recent ceasefire agreement with Pakistan.

“Congress is continuously asking questions like when will the terrorists of the Pahalgam attack be caught? Who bought the RDX used in Pulwama? And under what terms was the ceasefire with Pakistan agreed upon?” Khera asked, directly challenging the BJP-led central government.

Referring to Operation Sindoor — India’s military response following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives — Khera stressed that the operation, though strong, should be followed by real accountability. “We want strong answers to the strong questions being asked. Was justice served to the women who lost their husbands in Pahalgam?” he said.

Khera also referenced Chief of Defence Staff Anil Chauhan’s recent remarks, where the CDS acknowledged the loss of Indian jets and emphasized the importance of learning tactical lessons. “Even the CDS says we need to learn from what happened. That means questions are necessary. At least now the BJP cannot label those who ask questions as anti-national,” he said.
