No to traffic lights, yet better traffic

This is amazing! Coimbatore police has done away with the traffic lights. And strangely, the decision is one of the main reasons of improving the traffic situation in the bustling city in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to ANM News, police commissioner V Balakrishnan said, “we have introduced strategic U turns at critical traffic points. The motorists are disciplined and we have been able to improve traffic speed and movement along the city.”

The tech savvy police commissioner loves to interact with the masses and take their feedback. The Coimbatore police’s traffic initiative is quite contrary to rest of the country where lights and technology dictate traffic flow, but the system has worked wonders for the city.
