Gujarat took a significant step in aviation finance as Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inaugurated the India Aircraft Leasing & Financing Summit at GIFT City, Gandhinagar. The event, attended by Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, showcased Gujarat’s growing role in the global supply chain, attracting leading Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to the state.
Addressing the gathering, CM Patel credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the rapid transformation of India’s aviation sector. He emphasized GIFT City’s emergence as a key fintech hub, housing the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA), which streamlines aircraft leasing and financing under one roof. This initiative, he noted, opens new opportunities for the global aviation industry.
Union Minister Naidu highlighted Gujarat’s policy-driven governance and ease of doing business as key factors driving growth. He pointed out that IFSCA has become an onshore hub for financial and leasing activities, with 33 aircraft and financing companies already registered as of January 2025. He also outlined India’s ambitious aviation expansion, with plans to increase the number of airports to 350 by 2047 and establish 50 new airports within the next five years.
With seamless integration of aircraft production, financing, and leasing capabilities, India is positioning itself as a global hub for civil aircraft manufacturing. The summit, held in GIFT City—India’s emerging global financial center—aims to solidify the country’s role in the aviation finance ecosystem, paving the way for sustained industry growth.
