By A Staff Reporter: The CISF has carried out a complete survey of logistics and infrastructure as they stepped up action against the coal mafia in the areas of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL). The survey was done after senior DIG, CISF, KP Singh carried out a series of inspections and meetings with senior officials of the ECL and the industrial security forces.

Sources in CISF who were part of the survey said that the current strength of the force in the hotbed of illegal mining is 1050 personnel and there is an urgent need to increase it to 2700 personnel. There are requirements for upgraded equipment, bullet proof jackets, jackets, night vision cameras and construction of barracks.
“The ECL has 80 mines including open cast, underground and mixed ones and to ensure proper vigil and action against coal smuggling, there is an urgent requirement to augment resources”, a senior CISF officer said. Officials mentioned that the issue was discussed between DIG CISF, KP Singh and ECL chairman and managing director Satish Jha.
