BY A STAFF REPORTER: The Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers on Saturday released the maximum retail price (MRP) of sulfur-coated urea in a notification issued to the Managing Directors and Chief Managing Directors of Fertilizer manufacturing companies.

The letter stated that the cost of the upcoming sulfur-coated urea, set to be introduced as 'Urea Gold,' will be Rs. 266.50 per 40kg bag (inclusive of GST). This pricing aligns with the 45kg bag cost of Neem-coated urea.

This comes after the Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs approved the launch of sulfur-coated urea under the name of 'Urea Gold' in a meeting held on 28th June last year.

The sulfur-coated Urea, with a slow-release mechanism, will tackle the sodium deficiency in soil and raise nitrogen absorption by 40%. Subsequently, this will boost plant growth and yield quality of seeds, especially oil seeds.
