New Delhi, May 1 — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today hailed the Central Government’s decision to conduct a caste-based census as a historic move toward ensuring greater social justice and inclusive development. The decision was taken during a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a public statement, Singh said the approval to include caste-based data in the upcoming national census marks a transformative step for the nation. “This decision will prove to be very significant for the empowerment and development of all sections of society, especially those who are exploited and deprived,” he said.

He expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister, describing the move as one made in the broader public interest. Singh emphasized that accurate and comprehensive data on caste demographics will provide a stronger foundation for targeted policy-making, welfare schemes, and the equitable distribution of resources.
