Ceasefire Broken: Pakistan Shells Civilian Areas in Uri, Fire Trucks Deployed

By A Staff Reporter

Jammu & Kashmir | Tensions escalated sharply along the Line of Control (LoC) as Pakistan broke the ceasefire and began artillery shelling on civilian areas in Uri, Baramulla district. In response to the growing fire risk caused by the bombardment, fire trucks have been urgently deployed to prevent any potential spread and protect residential settlements.

The provocation from across the border came just a day after the Indian Army conducted a coordinated and precise operation targeting nine identified terrorist hotbeds in Pakistan-occupied territory. The operation, which took place during the intervening night of May 6 and 7, was in retaliation to recent terror attacks, including the killing of Indian civilians in Poonch and the Pahalgam incident.

Local authorities confirmed the shelling began early in the morning and led to panic among residents. “Emergency services including fire and rescue have been mobilized as a precaution,” a senior police official in Uri said.
