New Delhi: In a significant development for India's telecom sector, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has posted a quarterly profit of ₹262 crore for the third quarter of FY24-25, marking its first profitable quarter in 17 years. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia made the announcement on Wednesday, calling it a milestone in India's digital transformation journey.

"Today is an important day in the journey of the telecom sector in India. The Prime Minister has envisioned that the telecom sector will be the carriageway for India's digital future," Scindia said. He emphasized that telecom service providers (TSPs) are working diligently to ensure seamless connectivity for 140 crore Indians.

The turnaround of BSNL, a state-owned telecom provider, comes after years of financial struggles. Government initiatives, including financial relief packages and modernization efforts, have contributed to its revival.

Scindia credited the achievement to the government’s reforms and the commitment of BSNL’s workforce. He reiterated that the sector will play a pivotal role in India's digital expansion, aligning with PM Modi’s vision of a connected and technologically empowered nation.
