By A Staff Reporter — Haveri, Karnataka: Former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai has called for immediate action against Congress candidate Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan, alleging that he submitted misleading affidavits in his nomination for the Shiggaon Assembly constituency. Bommai claimed that Pathan’s filings contained false information, which he believes was intended to mislead both the public and electoral officials.

“The Congress candidate from Shiggaon, Yasir Ahmed Khan Pathan, has submitted false affidavits in his nominations, deceiving the people and the officials involved,” Bommai asserted. He appealed to the State Election Commission and Central Election Commission to investigate the matter urgently, suggesting that such actions undermine the electoral process and trust in public institutions.

Bommai’s call for an inquiry comes as the political atmosphere in Karnataka intensifies, with both BJP and Congress leaders sharpening their attacks ahead of key elections. Accusations over affidavit inaccuracies have previously triggered serious investigations, as affidavits play a critical role in ensuring transparency about a candidate’s background and qualifications.

Pathan has not yet responded publicly to the allegations, and there has been no immediate statement from the Election Commission regarding Bommai’s request. However, the BJP leader’s statements are likely to place additional scrutiny on the Shiggaon constituency, where both parties are vying for influence.

Bommai’s appeal highlights the growing tensions and heightened rhetoric as election day approaches, with both BJP and Congress focusing on integrity and transparency as central themes in their campaigns.
