New Delhi/Kolkata: In a politically charged development, a four-member fact-finding team from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to arrive in Kolkata to investigate the recent gangrape of a law student at South Calcutta Law College. The case, which has sparked widespread public protests and political criticism, continues to draw national attention.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul confirmed the team’s itinerary and intentions. “Today, a four-member team of our party is coming to Kolkata. We will receive them at the airport and take them to Lalbazar to meet the Commissioner of Police. We have also sent an email to the Chief Secretary, requesting a meeting,” she said.

The team is expected to visit the South Calcutta Law College, the location of the alleged incident that occurred on June 25. After completing official meetings and site visits, the team will address the media through a press conference.

Paul stressed that the BJP delegation was not coming to agitate but to inquire into the incident in a responsible manner. “We hope that CM Mamata Banerjee will behave with us properly, as we are not here to create trouble—we are only seeking the truth and accountability,” she added.

The move comes as Kolkata continues to witness citywide protests, with citizens demanding justice and transparency in the investigation.
