New Delhi: BJP MP Anurag Thakur has lodged a formal complaint with Delhi Police against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, alleging assault and incitement during a protest incident outside Makar Dwar. Thakur detailed the events, asserting that NDA MPs were holding a peaceful demonstration when the alleged incident occurred.
“We have filed a complaint with Delhi Police against Rahul Gandhi for assault and incitement. We have mentioned in detail the incident that happened today outside Makar Dwar, where NDA MPs were protesting peacefully,” Thakur told reporters.
Thakur further elaborated on the legal basis of the complaint, citing multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 109 (abetment of a crime), Section 117 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), and Section 351 (assault). He also referred to Sections 115, 125, and 131, which address attempts to commit serious offenses.
“Section 109 pertains to abetment of an offense, while Section 117 involves voluntary causing grievous hurt,” Thakur explained, emphasizing the seriousness of the allegations.
The complaint marks an escalation in tensions between the BJP and Congress, as both parties exchange accusations over recent political events. The BJP has accused the Congress of instigating chaos, while the Congress has alleged misuse of power by the ruling party.
Delhi Police has yet to comment on the complaint or announce any formal action. The incident is expected to intensify the ongoing political battle between the two leading parties, with both sides preparing to present their versions of events.
