BJP ministers, legislators eyeing drastic political steps

 Will Manipur be BJP’s Waterloo? According to several party insiders in the state, BJP is almost finished and will be impossible to turn around in the coming elections. With Centre showing no signs of sacking N Biren Singh government and law and order situation completely collapsed, most of the BJP legislators are getting desperate. According to the legislators, the Centre has scheduled a meeting on July 26. The BJP legislators are also meeting among themselves in an effort to put pressure on Biren to resign and Centre to take concrete steps.

“If Biren does not step down and Centre does not take steps then we are contemplating to resign en mass. Our political future is doomed with Biren,” a senior minister told ANM News. According to several BJP leaders, incidents are happening all over the state and it is getting difficult for people to survive. Local residents and intellectuals mentioned that the state has gone back several years and confidance building measures need to be taken immediately to give peace any chance in future.
