Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh: In a major boost to Andhra Pradesh’s ambition of becoming a tech-driven knowledge hub, Lokesh Nara, the state’s Minister for Information Technology, announced the establishment of a new BITS Pilani campus in Amaravati with an investment exceeding ₹2,000 crore.

The announcement was made via a social media post on Monday, where Nara welcomed Kumar Mangalam Birla, Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, for his initiative to bring the prestigious Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) to Amaravati. The new campus, described as an “AI+” institution, will focus on artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, and interdisciplinary education.

“With global partnerships and a dynamic learning program, @bitspilaniindia Amaravati would prepare our workforce to be equipped with the latest technologies,” Nara posted. “There will be no campus like this in the country,” he quoted Birla as saying.

The Amaravati campus is expected to accommodate around 7,000 students and will operate with a "digital-first" approach, featuring a green building design aimed at sustainability and innovation. The initiative marks a significant step in reshaping the city’s academic and technological landscape.
