In a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics trafficking, Assam Police seized a large cache of 76,000 YABA tablets during a recent anti-narcotics operation in Patel Nagar, Guwahati. The operation was carried out by the Sribhumi Police, who intercepted two vehicles coming from a neighboring state, acting on intelligence reports regarding possible drug trafficking.
The authorities acted swiftly, stopping the vehicles and conducting a thorough search, which led to the discovery of the massive drug haul. The seized YABA tablets, a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine, are often smuggled across borders for illegal distribution in various regions.
Three individuals were apprehended during the operation, and the police have launched further investigations to identify the origin of the drugs and potential connections to larger narcotics networks operating across the state and beyond.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the news of the successful operation on social media, praising the police for their vigilance and swift action. He reiterated the state government's commitment to tackling the rising drug menace and emphasized the importance of strengthening security measures to disrupt illicit drug trade routes.
The operation marks a significant step in Assam's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking, which has become a major issue in the region, particularly with the increasing use of synthetic drugs like YABA. Authorities have vowed to intensify their anti-narcotics efforts to ensure that those responsible for the illegal trade face justice.
