Army Showcases Combat Readiness in Mega Field Trials Across India

By A Staff Reporter

New Delhi, May 31 — The Indian Army is currently executing a series of Capacity Development Demonstrations at critical sites across the country to evaluate advanced defence systems under near-combat conditions, according to the Ministry of Defence.

These large-scale demonstrations are being held at Pokhran Field Firing Ranges (Rajasthan), Babina Field Firing Ranges (Uttar Pradesh), and Joshimath (Uttarakhand), while specialized Air Defence trials are underway at Agra and Gopalpur. The exercises feature integrated electronic warfare simulations, precision firepower, and real-time battlefield scenarios designed to test the Army’s preparedness for modern hybrid warfare.

The demonstrations aim to rigorously validate the performance, reliability, and adaptability of cutting-edge technologies — including artillery systems, air defence platforms, unmanned aerial systems, and advanced surveillance networks — under conditions replicating actual combat.

On May 27, General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of the Army Staff, visited Babina Field Firing Ranges, where he personally reviewed the ongoing trials and interacted with officers, engineers, and defence industry representatives. His presence underscored the Army’s focus on indigenous innovation, operational integration, and force modernization.

“The trials are being held in realistic operational settings to ensure that every weapon system meets the Army’s future warfighting requirements,” a senior official stated. The inclusion of electronic warfare elements reflects the military’s evolving doctrine to address both conventional and asymmetric threats.
