Pune: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, while addressing the Diamond Jubilee celebration of Janata Sahakari Bank in Pune, highlighted the crucial role of the cooperative sector in India’s economic progress. He reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s two key resolutions for the nation—transforming India into a developed country by 2047 and achieving a $5 trillion economy by 2027.

“PM Modi has kept two ‘sankalps’ for the country—one is to make the country ‘viksit’ (developed) by 2047, and the other is to make India a five trillion economy by 2027. To achieve these resolutions, it is important to develop the cooperation sector,” Shah stated.

He underscored the significance of cooperative banks and institutions in empowering rural and semi-urban economies, ensuring financial inclusion, and boosting agricultural and small-scale industries. The minister also emphasized ongoing government efforts to strengthen the cooperative movement, making it an integral part of India's growth strategy.
