New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday underscored the Narendra Modi government’s focus on the development of the Northeast, highlighting key infrastructure and industrial projects in Assam.

In a social media post, Shah recalled Prime Minister Modi’s assurance that the region’s progress would remain a top priority for the NDA government. “Modi Ji said that the development of the Northeast is our priority, and we have indisputably lived up to it. In Assam, where once no one spoke of development, one of India’s largest auditoriums is being built today. It also hosts the longest rail-cum-road bridge in India and a cutting-edge semiconductor plant,” he stated.

The Home Minister added that these initiatives reflect a shift in Assam’s trajectory, with the state emerging as a hub for both infrastructure and advanced technology. According to him, the visible transformation has strengthened the people’s trust in the NDA government.

Assam has witnessed a series of development projects in recent years, ranging from connectivity upgrades to industrial expansion. The construction of the Dhola-Sadiya Bridge — India’s longest rail-cum-road bridge — and the government’s push for high-tech industries such as semiconductor manufacturing have been projected as milestones in the state’s growth story.
