Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday greeted the nation on the occasion of Hindi Diwas and emphasized the importance of preserving and respecting India’s diverse linguistic heritage. In his message, he highlighted that the strength of the country lies in its unity amid linguistic diversity, and urged citizens to recognize the role of every Indian language in shaping national identity.

Extending his wishes, Shah remarked that Hindi, along with other regional languages, forms the backbone of India’s cultural fabric. He encouraged people to embrace this linguistic richness as a resource for building a stronger, self-reliant, and self-confident nation. “Respect all Indian languages and move forward towards a self-reliant, self-confident and developed country,” Shah said.

Hindi Diwas, observed annually on September 14, commemorates the adoption of Hindi as one of India’s official languages by the Constituent Assembly in 1949. The day is often marked by cultural programs, seminars, and literary events that showcase the significance of Hindi and other Indian languages.
