Ahmedabad, Gujarat, June 14 — In the wake of the tragic Ahmedabad plane crash, Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson has assured continued support for the bereaved families and pledged transparent and compassionate assistance during this difficult time.

Speaking to the media, Wilson said, “We will continue to help and support the families however we can.” He confirmed his personal visit to the crash site and meetings with some of the families affected, following a prior visit by Tata Sons and Air India Chairman N. Chandrasekaran. “Members of the Air India management team are now in the city and will remain present for as long as it takes,” he added.

To provide immediate financial relief, Air India will disburse an interim compensation of ₹25 lakh (approximately £21,000) to each family of the deceased, as well as to the survivor. This payment comes in addition to the ₹1 crore (about £85,000) already pledged by Tata Sons.

Efforts to reunite families with their loved ones and personal belongings have commenced, with Air India teams working in coordination with authorities. “This is an emotional process and we ask that families be given space,” Wilson said.

In parallel, Air India has initiated precautionary safety checks on all Boeing 787 aircraft, in line with directives issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Wilson assured that these checks will be completed within the prescribed timeline.
