Ahmedabad, Gujarat: The recent Ahmedabad plane crash has deepened public anxiety around air travel, severely impacting the travel and tourism industry. According to industry insiders, the cumulative effect of successive aviation-related incidents has led to widespread cancellations and a sharp fall in inquiries, particularly from business travelers.
“After the Pahalgam incident, tourists are scared to travel anywhere. Then the Air India incident happened, and now customers are not willing to travel at all,” said Nirali Shah, Administration Officer at a local Tour and Travels Company.
Shah added that even routine business travel has taken a hit. “Many people travel for business purposes too, but after the Air India incident, customers are either choosing to travel by train or cancelling their business trips altogether. This is affecting our business significantly. We're not even receiving inquiries over calls,” she said.
With both leisure and corporate travel witnessing a sharp downturn, the sector, already reeling from post-pandemic recovery challenges, is bracing for prolonged stagnation.
“We are expecting that the situation is going to remain the same for some time,” Shah added, reflecting a sentiment shared widely across the industry.
