Ahmedabad, Gujarat | In a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the Air India Dreamliner crash that occurred on June 12, Banchha Nidhi Pani, Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad, confirmed the successful recovery of the aircraft’s black box, a critical component for aviation accident analysis.

Speaking to the media, Pani revealed that the tail section of the aircraft, where the flight data recorder (commonly referred to as the black box) is usually located, remained largely undamaged and was found lodged in the first building struck by the aircraft during the crash.

“During the operation, the black box had to be recovered. It is typically located either at the front or the back of the aircraft. Fortunately, the tail end was not destroyed, and it was stuck in the building,” Pani explained.

Following a request from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), the AMC coordinated the deployment of cranes, engineers, and manual labourers to carefully retrieve the device without damaging it further. “Thanks to coordinated efforts, the black box was successfully recovered,” he added.

The black box will now be handed over to aviation authorities and investigators, who will analyze flight data and cockpit voice recordings to reconstruct the final moments of the flight and determine the cause of the crash.
