Ahmedabad: In a major update on the tragic Air India plane crash, Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rakesh Joshi informed the media that DNA identification of the victims has seen substantial progress. As of 10:45 AM today, 190 DNA samples have been successfully matched, and the mortal remains of 157 individuals have been handed over to their respective families.

Providing a detailed breakdown, Dr. Joshi said, “Out of the 190 DNA matches, 123 are Indian nationals, 27 are from the United Kingdom, seven are Portuguese, one is from Canada, and four are non-passengers — possibly ground staff or local residents affected by the crash.”

Among the grim statistics, there was one note of relief. “The lone survivor of the crash, Vishwas, has been discharged from the hospital and sent back home with his family after receiving the necessary medical care,” Joshi confirmed.
