BY AVIJIT NANDI MAJUMDAR: With three weeks left for the grand opening of Ram Mandir in Ayodhyay, there is peace around Krishna Janambhoomi temple. According to senior officials of the UP police, the inspector general of police, Agra range Deepak Kumar is personally overlooking the security with massive crowd thronging Mathura and Vrindavan. The Krishna Janambhoomi Temple shot into prominence after a dispute arose over the location of adjoining Idgah mosque. The Supreme Court has declined to stay Allahabad High Court's order for a Court monitored survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque premises situated near the Krishna Janambhoomi temple. According to the petitions filed by the Hindu side, Raja Veer Singh Bundela of Orchha constructed a temple on a 13.37-acre land in 1618. The Shahi Idgah mosque, which stands at the site now, was built in 1670 after the destruction of this temple, on the orders of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. These claims are supported by the official court bulletin of February 1670. The defendants, Shahi Idgah mosque committee and UP Sunni Central Waqf Board, argue that the Shahi Idgah mosque does not fall within the 13.37-acre land at Katra Keshav Dev. They further claim that the petitioners' assertion that Krishna's birthplace lies beneath the mosque is unfounded and lacks documentary evidence.
