BY A STAFF REPORTER: Historical day as India's first solar mission, Aditya L1 injects itself into its final orbit, Lagrange point-1 around 4:00 PM on Saturday, 6th January.

Aditya L1, which was launched successfully on 2nd September last year, has masterfully passed through four earth-bound maneuvers and subsequently injected into the Trans-Lagrangean Point 1 successfully.

The maiden solar mission seeks to monitor the Sun's corona layer and comprehend its intense heat from a halo orbit near the first Sun-earth lagrangean point (L1) which is about 1.5 million KM away from the Earth.

The Lagrange Point One is a region where the Sun and Earth's gravitational forces precisely equalize, letting an object remain stationary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also celebrated the historical landmark and complimented the scientists on his X-handle.
