Kutch, Gujarat: In a landmark development for India’s green energy ambitions, Adani New Industries Limited (ANIL) has successfully commissioned the country’s first off-grid 5 MW Green Hydrogen Pilot Plant in Kutch, Gujarat. The project marks a significant step toward achieving decentralized and sustainable hydrogen production.
The state-of-the-art facility is entirely powered by solar energy and integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), making it India’s first green hydrogen plant to operate completely off-grid. The pilot plant demonstrates the feasibility of producing green hydrogen without relying on traditional grid infrastructure, offering a replicable model for remote and industrial applications.
According to ANIL, the commissioning of this plant is a milestone in India’s clean energy transition, aligning with national goals to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and become a global hub for green hydrogen. The company said the pilot is aimed at validating the technology, operational reliability, and commercial viability of fully renewable-powered hydrogen production.
“This development ushers in a new era for India's hydrogen economy and showcases the potential of decentralized, renewable-powered hydrogen production systems,” an ANIL spokesperson said.
