New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday criticised the central government for permitting the India-Pakistan Asia Cup cricket match, calling it inconsistent with India’s diplomatic stance on Pakistan.

Bharadwaj pointed out that the government had recently sent around 59 MPs and ministers to 32 countries to lobby for Pakistan’s international isolation, citing its alleged role in promoting terrorism. He questioned the logic of then playing a cricket fixture against the same nation.

“The Centre sent representatives across the world to say Pakistan is a terrorist nation and must be isolated. But now, the same government has played a cricket match against Pakistan. What message has gone out to the world? That everything is normal and we are just playing a game. Today, the whole world is making fun of India, laughing because of the central government,” Bharadwaj said.
