New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha on Tuesday refrained from engaging in political allegations following Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's public act of drinking water from the Yamuna River. While opposition parties have used the issue of pollution in the river as a political weapon, Chadha shifted the focus to AAP’s electoral strategy, asserting that the party is moving ahead based on its unique strengths.
"I don’t want to comment on the allegations of any other party or their politicians. AAP is entering these elections with a policy, a narrative, and a face. No other party has these three for Delhi," Chadha stated. "This is AAP’s USP, and that is why it is setting aside all other parties and moving ahead."
His comments come amid increasing political debates over pollution in the Yamuna, with the BJP criticizing AAP for failing to clean the river despite promises made by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Recently, BJP MP Anurag Thakur accused Kejriwal of not fulfilling his pledge to restore the Yamuna, urging Delhi voters to elect the BJP for better environmental management.
The incident involving CM Nayab Singh Saini drinking Yamuna water was seen as an attempt to counter claims about the river’s pollution levels.
