Overlooked, IPS officer turns to politics

A senior IPS officer, BK Ravi, overlooked for the job of the top cop in Tamil Nadu submitted his premature resignation.

The 1989 batch much decorated IPS officer will join politics and try to bring about large scale changes in the police system.

According to sources close to him, Ravi, from Bihar will join the Congress and will contest the coming Lok Sabha elections from the state.

 The current DGP of Tamil Nadu, Shankar Jiwal, considered an efficient officer close to the DMK government, is one year junior to Ravi, who has three months left for superannuation.
