PUNE, Maharashtra – The 77th Army Day Parade, held on January 15 in Pune, was a historic celebration of inclusivity and innovation, marked by several firsts. Among the highlights were the debut of women Agniveers, an all-girl marching contingent from the National Cadet Corps (NCC), and a demonstration of nimble four-legged robotic mules.
The women Agniveers, who participated for the first time, were meticulously trained at the Corps of Military Police Centre and School in Bengaluru. Their presence symbolized a significant milestone in the integration of women into combat and support roles in the armed forces.
Ghughare Samiksha Vinod, one of the women Agniveers, shared her excitement, saying, “It is a remarkable day for us because this is the first time that the CMP contingent is participating in the Army Day parade. After finishing our training, we have been practicing for the Army Day for the last one month. We have worked very hard for today's parade. We are feeling very good that we paraded for the first time.”
The parade also featured an all-girl NCC contingent, further underlining the growing role of women in shaping the future of India’s defense forces. Adding a touch of technological innovation, four-legged robotic mules made their debut, showcasing advancements in military logistics and operational efficiency.
