New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has announced a scheduled power blackout in the NDMC area from 8:00 pm to 8:15 pm on Wednesday as part of a civil defense mock drill aimed at enhancing emergency preparedness in the national capital.

The brief outage is a preparatory measure to test response protocols and coordination among key civic and emergency response agencies. The NDMC has appealed to all residents, commercial establishments, and institutions in the area to remain calm and cooperate during the 15-minute blackout.

“This is part of a civil mock drill initiative,” said an official statement from the NDMC. “All the residents are requested to please cooperate and bear with the situation. Your support is crucial for ensuring the effectiveness of such emergency preparedness measures.”

The mock drill is being carried out in alignment with directives from the Ministry of Home Affairs, which recently called on states and union territories to ramp up readiness in the face of evolving security challenges, particularly after the recent terror attack in Pahalgam.
