1 navy sailor dead as chetak helicopter crashes

BY A STAFF REPORTER:  A Sailor was killed when a Chetak helicopter crashed on the runway of INS Garuda naval base on Saturday. According to reports, an Indian Navy helicopter crashed soon after takeoff. 

"A Chetak helicopter crashed while checking a maintenance taxi at INS Garuda in Kochi, resulting in the unfortunate loss of one ground crew," the Indian Navy said in a statement. A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident. "
