During the last two Muhurat trading sessions, the stock markets closed in the green on Muhurat trading days. Both the Sensex and the Nifty gained 0.88% in 2022, while the two indices gained 0.49% each in 2021.

Mahurat trading is a special trading session held on the exchange on the occasion of Diwali. During this session, exchanges are open for just one hour where traders and investors can punch in the token trade to usher in the new year. Muhurat trading is considered an auspicious occasion to start something new including investing in the stock market.

Many investors believe that buying stocks during the trading moment will bring them good luck and wealth throughout the year. Stock traders open new settlement accounts on Diwali day. Muhurat trading session is usually held in the evening during Diwali, the auspicious time of Lakshmi Puja. On that day the markets are closed for regular trading and open only for that one hour All trades executed during Muhurat trading session are settled on the same day. There is usually a 15-minute pre-opening session and a closing session to settle all trades.
