The day is dedicated to the workers and encouraged to be aware of their rights. It is also known as Labor Day or International Workers' Day. This day is celebrated to commemorate the sacrifices of the martyrs killed in Hay Market in Chicago, USA in 1886. May Day is celebrated in 80  countries of the world, including India.  This day is a national holiday in many countries. Various events were organized to remind the workers of their rights. Messages are also given through various media to raise awareness about workers' rights.
