Union Min Smriti Irani Loses Amethi. Congress' KL Sharma Wins

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Ahead of the much-awaited Lok Sabha elections' verdict, Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma defeated Union Minister Smriti Irani from the Amethi Lok Sabha Constituency in Uttar Pradesh on June 4, Tuesday.

KL Sharma secured 5,39,228 votes against Smriti Irani's 3,72,032 votes. Moreover, BSP's Nanhe Singh Chauhan secured 34,534 votes.

Along with KL Sharma's win, Congress has secured its former bastion. Smriti Irani won the Amethi Lok Sabha seat during the 2019 elections, defeating Congress' Rahul Gandhi.
