By A STAFF REPORTER: Cloth bag vending machines were inaugurated today, in CA Market, Salt Lake by Md. Ghulam Rabbani, Minister-in-charge, Department of Environment, Government of West Bengal. This is an initiative taken by the West Bengal Pollution Control Board under theme- 'Mission LiFE' to ban the usage of single use plastic bags.
People coming over to CA market for shopping can now insert Rs.10 in the vending machine and get a cloth bag which can be used numerous times. Two such machines were inaugurated in CA Market.
The Minister-in-charge, Md. Ghulam Rabbani, also inaugurated a plastic waste crusher machine at CA Market area.
The Department of Environment is also taking initiatives to renovate the ponds of Bidhannagar. Today,Md Ghulam Rabbani has also inaugurated the process of renovation of a pond in Duttabad, Salt Lake on priority. The main aim of the renovation of ponds is to improve the quality of water.
