Port to digitally monitor load bearing capacity of Howrah Bridge

By A Staff Reporter: Kolkata port authorities will digitally monitor the safety and security of lead bearing structure if Howrah Bridge.

Speaking exclusively to ANM News, deputy chairman of Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Samrat Rahi said a digital real time health check up status of Howrah Bridge will be available in one year. “We will install devices which will monitor the safety and security of lead bearing capacity at different points of the Birdge structure and the same will be available real time on our computers,” he said. ANM News have learnt that the technology is in use in various bridges across the country and world. The technology helps officials to monitor real time safety and lead bearing capacity of the structure and undertake timely repairs and maintenance. The technology will also help avoid accidents owing to weak structural lead of the Bridge. The Port authorities mentioned that they expect the entire system to be put in place within a year.
