By A Staff Reporter: India Post is adopting high technology and will concentrate to evolve in it in a big way in the near future. Speaking exclusively to ANM News, chief post master general West Bengal Circle, Neeraj Kumar said that conveyor belt has already been introduced in two post offices in Kolkata. “The parcels are put in the conveyor belt and the documents automatically reach the vantage point from where they are distributed,” he said.
India Post sources indicated that conveyor belt system will be introduced in more post offices in near future. The upgraded technology helps in faster and almost error free movement of materials, sources added. India Post has also introduced smart phones to postmen and auto vehicles.
“Customers can track their parcels to real time scenario and India Post provides updated messages on the status of their material,” Kumar added. The postmen upgrade parcel status on their smart phone and customers can check.
India Post sources mentioned that more such innovations are in the pipeline.
