By A Staff Reporter: In a significant development Election commission has decided to crack the whip on electoral rolls and bogus voters. With complaints of fake voters pouring in from various quarters, the newly appointed chief electoral officer of West Bengal Manoj Agarwal has ordered a summary revision of electoral rolls for Kaligung assembly constituency in Nadia. Elections will be held in Kaligung after the demise of the sitting candidate and ECI will announce the dates shortly. Sources in know of the development claimed that Agarwal held several meetings and made it clear that that he wants a clean and actual electoral rolls according to rules laid in the constitution.

The summary revision will be completed by April 24 and enquiry to be finished by May 2. Final publication of voter list for Kaligung will have to finish by May 5. According to sources, there are 309 booths in Kaligung, an increase of 48 booths. The Election Commission has directed creation of a polling booth wherever there are valid 1200 voters. Agarwal told a meeting of all party political leaders recently that anyone can file an objection online with valid reason identifying bogus voters. Election commission will investigate and take action, officials assured the all party delegation. The election in Kaligung will be the last before state assembly polls in 2026.
