CISF Personnel Save Elderly Passenger’s Life at Kolkata Airport

By a Staff Reporter: Quick thinking and prompt action by CISF personnel at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport saved the life of an elderly passenger who collapsed inside a washroom near boarding gate number 18 late Monday night.

At around 9:45 pm, housekeeping staff alerted CISF officials that a passenger had fallen unconscious inside the locked washroom. Constable (GD) Pappu Ranjan and Head Constable V.K. Sharma, deployed at the gate during the C Shift, rushed to the spot. Acting swiftly, Constable Ranjan climbed over from an adjacent washroom and opened the locked door using a stick.

DIG ASG Kolkata Airport Ajay Kumar informed that, Shift GO Mayank Singh, DC, the company commander, and the area in-charge also reached the location, and the airport’s emergency medical team was immediately informed. Medical personnel provided first aid, after which the passenger regained consciousness and recovered sufficiently to board his flight.

Kolkata Airport Authorities Take Steps to Ease Passenger Lounge Woes

The passenger, identified as 80-year-old Rahman Syed Abur, was travelling to Mumbai on Air India flight AI 2410 with his son. Both expressed heartfelt gratitude to the CISF team for their life-saving efforts.

In recognition of their exemplary service, Constable Pappu Ranjan and Head Constable V.K. Sharma will be rewarded for their prompt and effective action.
