CISF intensifies security at Airport, passengers advised to arrive early

By A Staff Reporter: CISF has intensified check at Kolkata Airport and has advised  airlines to inform passengers to come at least two hours before departure for domestic and three hours before for international travellers. The heightened checking and frisking is related possible threat perception owing to upcoming Indian Independence Day on August 15.

The deputy inspector general of CISF, Airport, Ajay Kumar held a series of meetings with senior departmental officers and with West Bengal police and airport authorities to conduct joint drills and operations. Sources mentioned that strict instructions have been issues not to allow any parking of vehicles near the terminal building. CISF has also shared the number of their control room with residents staying along the periphery of the airport and passengers urging them to report any suspicious activity. Officials claimed that although there are no specific threat at the moment, but security agencies are on a state of high alert and ready to face any eventualities.
