BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a bizarre series of incidents, CISF has busted a racket dealing in foreign currencies at the domestic terminal of Kolkata Airport. According to senior CISF officials who took part in the operations, several suspects were caught carrying foreign currencies of different denominations worth several lakhs of rupees. The CISF has seized the currencies and arrested the suspects and handed them over to the local police.
Investigations revealed that the suspects, popularly known in local parlance as carriers, brought foreign currencies of different denominations in hand bags and purses through the domestic terminal. CISF got wind and deputy inspector general airport, Ajay Kumar briefed his men to keep a close watch and nab the suspects. Sources said police and other agency officials interrogated the suspects to find out more details. CISF officials mentioned that suspects were caught at both the arrival and departure point of the airport.
